Our amazing team of regulars and part-time volunteers are committed to helping others in the Bronx and beyond. We work together to serve our community with a smile, and make a positive impact on our world. We are more than just a food pantry. We provide valuable information to help families and host lively events to provide needed services and seasonal items such as bookbags, school supplies, winter coats, pampering for moms, massages and more. We currently partner with the Northeast Bronx Farmers Market, a local 501(C)(3) organization. Angela Torres helps to direct the operations of Throggs Neck Community Alliance, but the volunteers help to make this project a great success as we serve hundreds of families every week. In April of 2020, the COVID 19 virus pandemic rocked the Bronx. Through her involvement in Bronx public school PTAs, Angela Torres felt a passion to help meet the needs of local families who were now struggling. She reached out to friends and family, partnered with Rap4Bronx, churches, schools and local politicians to gather resources to serve the community. From April to June of 2020, bags of fresh produce and dry goods were delivered from Throggs Neck Community Church to families throughout the Bronx via cars because NYC was on quarantine. In July 2020, it became a pop up food pantry run outside of Fort Schuyler Presbyterian Church (rain, heat or sleet) and now it has its home at St. Benedict’s Church where we have an indoor/outdoor space to serve the community. We operate on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 12 noon to serve the Bronx and beyond.
