About Throggs Neck Community Alliance

 The COVID-19 pandemic hit the Bronx hard in the spring of 2020. As a PTA president and member of the District 8 President’s Council, Angela Torres saw firsthand how families were struggling—and felt called to take action.

What began as a simple desire to help quickly grew into a community-powered effort. Angela connected with friends, family, Rap4Bronx, local churches, schools, and elected officials to gather resources and deliver support where it was needed most.

From April through June 2020, volunteers used their own cars to deliver fresh produce and pantry staples from Throggs Neck Community Church directly to families across the Bronx, at a time when the city was under strict quarantine.

In July 2020, the operation evolved into a pop-up food pantry outside First Schuyler Presbyterian Church—open rain, heat, or sleet. Today, the pantry has a permanent home at St. Benedict’s Church, where we continue to serve our neighbors with dignity, compassion, and respect.

We now operate in an outdoor community space and welcome anyone in need.
Food distribution takes place every Wednesday and Saturday at 12:00 PM.
