In April of 2020, the COVID 19 virus pandemic rocked the Bronx. Through her involvement as PTA president and on the District 8 President's Council, Angela Torres felt a passion to help meet the needs of local families who were now struggling.
She reached out to friends and family, partnered with Rap4Bronx, churches, schools, and local politicians to gather resources to serve the community.
From Aprill to June of 2020, bags of fresh produce and dry goods were delivered from Throggs Neck Community Church to families throughout the Bronx via cars since NYC was on quarantine.
In July 2020, it became a pop-up food pantry run outside First Schuyler Presbyterian Church (rain, heat, or sleet) and now it has its home at St. Benedict's Church.
We have an indoor/outdoor space to serve the community. We operate on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 12 noon to serve the Bronx and beyond.
Food justice is an important part of community justice. We take donations from local businesses and use them to fight hunger. Help us connect with donors and with people in need.
Every Wednesday and Saturday morning, we mobilize our teams of volunteers to make a real difference. Join us and see what can be accomplished when you get an impassioned team to focus on changing the world around them.
Our community is full of people who want to help. We work to help the people providing services with the people who need them. Come connect with people in new ways.
